Joining Congruent Shapes


I have compiled a number of tasks, all of which are based upon joining congruent shapes together. With regard to the content of the curriculum, the following skills and concepts can be accessed and developed or practised and consolidated:

producing a system to try to prove completeness;

symmetries of shapes in 2-dimensions;

planes and axes of symmetry of 3-dimensional shapes ;

tessellating shapes;

counting the perimeter of a shape;

considering ideas of maximum and minimum;

calculating perimeter of shapes using fractional values;

calculating perimeter of shapes using decimal values;

exploring a (non-obvious) sequence.
