The Yard Works was a large cotton-manufacturing complex that operated in Preston until 1962. It was the home of the Horrockses company, which was founded in Preston in 1791. The Yard Works was located 1 mile east of Preston town centre. The site was bordered by Church Street, Stanley Street, Queens Street and Grimshaw Street. The aim of this activity is to investigate how the Yard Works site developed. Use the time machine to view maps of the Yard Works site in 1808, 1913 and 1950, then answer the questions below.
