Follow the Yarn

The final Guild before the First World War was held in 1902. The workers and managers of Preston's cotton industry marched in their own procession with full confidence in the future. They were sure that Lancashire cotton would continue to be as successful and prosperous. By the time of the next Guild, in 1922, their optimism was shattered by war and falling orders.
