1768 John Horrocks the founder of Horrockses is born.  John Horrocks (1768-1804) founder of the Horrockses company. John was one of two sons in a family of 16 children. His father John Horrocks owned a millstone quarry in Edgworth, near Bolton in Lancashire. John and his eldest brother Samuel worked in the family business before becoming interested in cotton. |
