1780s John Horrocks starts to spin cotton into yarn

Cotton spinning.

Sometime during the 1780s John Horrocks set up a spinning frame in his fathers' workshop. Here he began spinning cotton into yarn. John then took the yarn he made to Preston, where he sold it to Mr Collinson and Mr Watson owners of Preston's first cotton mill. They then gave the yarn to local handloom weavers who made cloth on their behalf.
