1802 The company expands and Riley, Paley and Company is founded In 1802 the Top of the Yard mill was built. At this time John Horrocks also helped Richard Riley and John Paley set up a machine works in Heatley Street. Riley was a foreman of the Yard Factory mechanic's shop and Paley was a joiner. Together they began making machinery for the new mills including steam engines. They later established their own mills at Heatley Street and Salmon Street.
