1804 John Horrocks dies and Samuel Horrocks becomes the chief partner.

After the death of John Horrocks control of the firm passed to his elder brother Samuel, assisted by Thomas Miller and John Whitehead.

When John Whitehead died in 1810 the company went through a number of changes in partnerships. When Thomas Miller died in 1840 his sons, Thomas and Henry, took his place. When Samuel Horrocks died in 1842 his son Samuel became chief partner.
