1808 The Yard Works is established By 1808 the site known as the Yard Works was established. It had five factories, a warehouse and sizing house, a mechanics shop, stables and an engine house. Thomas Miller, the manager of the Yard Works lived in Golden Square, the house built by John Horrocks near the entrance to the Yard Works.
