1946 Launch of Horrockses Fashions Limited

After the Second World War Horrockses began to modernise some of their factories. They also launched Horrockses Fashions.

Before 1946 Horrockses had been making a wide range of printed cotton fabric. At this time most women made dresses themselves. In April 1946 Horrockses Fashions launched a ready to wear collection of printed cotton dresses, housecoats and beachwear. The Horrockses Fashions label became extremely popular in the 1950s and 1960s. For many women at this time their best dress was a Horrockses Fashions dress.
