Ellen Haliwell (1846-post 1914)
From 1910 Horrockses began to give pensions to its elderly workers who were too old or sick to work. Ellen Haliwell was one of the many employees mentioned in the pension appeals to the company now held by the Harris Museum and Art Gallery. All that we know about the lives of these workers is written in one or two pages. The appeals record interviews with the employees held at Horrockses offices at Preston. |
