Free Resources From the National Education Network

The National Education Network (NEN) is a dedicated education network shared by schools, further and higher education delivered exclusively through the ten Regional Broadband Consortia (RBCs).  The NEN harnesses the power of broadband technology to deliver unique content and services to support teaching and learning. Funding is provided by the DCSF and each local authority.

The following are a selection of free resources for CLEO broadband connected schools, available from the National Education Network and other regional broadband consortia.

Census 1911 is an opportunity for pupils to learn about the movement and settlement of poeple in their local area and other parts of the United Kingdon and to research the effects economic, technological and scientific developments have on the communities where we live and work.

 

Film Education is a charity supported by the Film Industry. It provides curriculum based resources free to education.

 

 

British Pathe is a digital news archive with over 3500 hours of footage. The National Education Network has again negotiated a licence to schools to use this excellent set of resources.

Making The News 2 is the successor to Making The News. MTN2 is a multimedia-rich online news publishing channel. Students at registered schools can create news articles that incorporate text, sound and video (using online sound and video editor) and, once approved by a teacher, publish their news stories to the world.
