CLEO and the National Education Network (NEN)
The National Education Network brings many opportunities for additional services e.g. high quality video conferencing with free calls between schools and other organisations connected to the NEN e.g. Universities and museums.
It's also increasingly being used as an access route to national curriculum resources such as the Pathe News Archive, Audio Networks and the Making The News project. All of which are provided free by the Regional Broadband Consortia working together to provide access over the NEN.
The ability to access national content resources and download free content for free e.g. the Pathe News Archive and the Audio Networks archive (these initiatives have been made possible by joint collaboration of the RBCs) is a key driver for the development of the NEN. Further collaborations are already underway between the Regional Broadband Consortia to develop the future of the NEN.
