Working with sounds

Click here to view a story with a sound file attached.  It's always a good idea to attach a picture to your story first - it will look better this way.

Windows has an inbuilt free simple Sound Recorder program.  This is suitable for recording narration, poems and class songs.  BUT it will only save files in .WAV format and as these cannot be uploaded to Making the News, you will need to compress them to MP3 files using free software such as Audacity.

Using Sound Recorder

It is found by clicking Start/Programs/Accessories/Entertainment and then choosing Sound Recorder.

You will need to have a microphone plugged into your computer to use Sound Recorder.

Sound Recorder has useful help files to show you how to use it.
