System Plug – ins

Your system will also require the following plug- ins before using the Via video camera.

Internet Explorer 6
Service Pack 1 or later (Win XP)   Service pack 4  or later (Win 2000)
Direct X 9
Media Player 9b

How to check your system plug-ins

You must check to see if you have Internet Explorer 6 and Service Pack 1 before you start the installation of the Polycom software.   To check the version of service pack on your PC

Service pack 1 (Windows XP)
Right click on my computer go down the drop down menu down to properties.
At the next window, click on the tab labelled General. 
Information regarding the version of the service pack should be available.

If you haven’t got version 1 of the service pack:-
click on the start button on your desktop
From the menu select Windows update
select scan for updates and this will put the latest update service pack update on your system. 
You must be online when you go through this process

Service pack 4 (Windows 2000)
Right click my computer
Click properties
At the next window, click on the tab labelled General. 
Information regarding the version of the service pack should be available.

If you haven’t got version 4 of the service pack:-
click on the start button on your desktop
From the menu select Windows update
select scan for updates and this will put the latest update on the system service pack update on your system. 
You must be online when you go through this process

Internet Explorer 6 (IE6)

To check which version of Internet Explorer you have on your system:-
Run Internet Explorer by clicking on the Internet explorer icon.
click on help at the top of the page and from the drop down menu select ‘about’  this will tell you which version you have.

If you haven’t got IE6:-
click on the start button on your desktop
From the menu select Windows update select scan for updates and this will put the latest IE update on your system. 
You must be online when you go through this process

Additional plug-ins
Direct X 9
Media Player 9b

Both these plug ins can be installed from the Polycom software CD ROM, you do not need to do anything at this stage, you can proceed to Section 4 installing the Polycom software.
