CLEO Remote Access Services Sunday 24th July 2011 Disruption to All Moodle & Remote Desktop Access (SGD) Services One Connect Limited will undertake essential maintenance work to the CLEO systems on Sunday July 24, 2011. Various services will be affected at different times between 8:00am and 12:00pm, further details given below. CLEO offers a number of different services that allow connected schools remote access to their school for staff and pupils from home.
These services are in addition to the CLEO Moodle, our centrally hosted learning platform or VLE. Use of these Remote Access Services is covered by the CLEO Terms and Conditions http://www.cleo.net.uk/index.php?category_id=578 . Remote Folder Access|CLEO Remote Folder Access uses WebDAV technology which allows staff and pupils access to central files servers. It is supported by Windows and uses the same protocols at html, so reducing problems such as firewalls and open ports. Your school files appear as a ‘network place’ on your desktop. It lets only one user modify a file at a time, while allowing multiple users to read it. This allows files to be locked while they are being edited, preventing unexpected changes from occurring. To enable remote folder access using WebDAV, schools will need to request a CLEO Web Gateway. The school then installs WebDAV on their server. There are no additional purchases required – WebDAV is included in IIS 6 services for Windows Server 2003 and IIS5 on Windows Server 2000. It gives access to files only, applications must be run locally. Please go to the Remote Folder section for more information. CLEO Remote Desktop Access|CLEO Remote Desktop Access provides secure access using your web browser to either your school network desktop or specific centralised applications on the network using Oracle's Secure Global Desktop (SGD) application. CLEO Network Translation Service adds a fourth and very flexible remote access solution where the traditional main services cannot meet a schools requirements. NAT (Network Address Translation) allows a host sitting in private network address space (such as the CLEO network) to contact or be contacted by a host sitting in global address space (the Internet).
